There are so many of us who have fallen prey to the theory that the world owes us something at least once in our lives.  We believe we deserve something only to have it land in someone else's lap.  Only to leave us wallowing in a pile of tears and bemoaning how life just isn't fair.  Perhaps that's true - life isn't fair - maybe when it comes down to it life is just life.  As in, life is just what you put into it or for that matter what you expect to get out of it.

If we accept the fact that our lives are of our own making we may be faced with a daunting level of responsibility.  Which is why when we approach our lives with habitual complaints about how things aren't as they should be we get nothing but experiences that seem to prove our own argument.  Famed author, Richard Bach once said, "argue for your limitations and sure enough their yours."  Such is the beauty and power of living as a co-creator in a universe of limitless possibility. Luckily, the universe is designed in balance - for every up there is a down, for every in an out, for every day a night.  So it stands to reason that if we choose to create a habit of appreciation and gratitude for the good in our lives the universe must by it's very nature provide us with evidence in kind.

Do yourself a favor, just for one week do NOT complain.  Imagine that even in the darkest of situations there is something good transpiring - even if you can't yet see it.  Just pretend if you have to that a hundred years from now the benefit of the experience will be crystal clear.  Then, if you can, find something or someone to smile about.  Once you are smiling quickly look around for the most beautiful thing you see (it could be the way the light hits the window, or the color of the grass, or the smoothness of the tile floor) and say to yourself, thank you for this beautiful day.  If you do this for an entire week, I am confident you'll see life in a whole new and positive way.
