Forget about the "trickle down" theory, it doesn't work in economics and it doesn't work in life. If you want a real life shift than it's all about making waves. What's better for bringing about a personal shift in consciousness and enhancing one's life, than knowing that when one person prospers, succeeds or even rising above life's challenges then all those in their sphere are lifted up. Look at what the rescue of a few valiant Chilean minors did to grip the hearts of people all over the world - for several weeks there were probably more good thoughts sent out to Chile than any time prior. Add to that the level of good multiplied in the lives of those who shared the news of progress made and from moment to moment as each minor was lifted back to the land of the living the world was a better place.
Sadly, most of the news we hear and share is less than uplifting or soul satisfying. However, we each have the choice to spread the horror or look for the hope in any situation. When we choose to find the best in the moment we can help turn the tide. Despite the media's relay of endless doom and gloom - we can choose to rise up and ask for more. We can ask for more from ourselves and more from each other by looking for silver lining, the upside, or the lesson to be learned.
When we realize that our thoughts, actions and experiences have a great effect on the world around us we will understand that now is not only the time for change but that WE are the ones who can bring about that change. Our lives are connected just like the molecules of a snowflake and the drops of ocean in the sea. If we want to have a better world it's time for each of us to make some waves!
Yes, that's right, LEAP! If the pool is cold, or the road hard, or the view plain they will be so whether you climb in one toe at a time or rush full forward with all your might. However, if your heart is calling you forward over the edge of a personal precipice perhaps it is telling you that it is YOUR time to FLY!
So many people I've known have stood at the edge of life's changes fearful and full of dreaded trepidation over the what if's of what might happen next only to see those who bravely stepped into change move forward into a whole new world of possibility. Some of these people are still there, clinging desperately to the glory days of their past, while all around them the sandcastle is washing back out to sea. I wonder when they will listen to the voice within, when enough will be enough, and the strain of clinging will be too great. My hope is that everyone can believe more in their own divinity and grace than the misplaced comfort of a job, a relationship, or even a community.
Amazing things are possible to those who believe in possibility. We can change our lives moment to moment but it is an inside job. To truly be successful at it one must learn to get out of the way and take a flying leap!
Remember this mythical two-headed creature from the original Dr. Doolittle? It was a llama with two front ends facing two different directions, both ends fighting for control over which direction it would go. Sometimes I think people are like that; one side clinging to the past and the other longing for the future. Never realizing that one of the greatest strengths we have in creating our ultimate best is learning to let go.
If you find yourself desiring something more of your life while feeling stuck in the constrains of your current habits, lifestyle, or work environment then I encourage you to ask yourself if you are behaving like a Push Me - Pull You. If so it may be time to gently remind yourself that you can never move forward while trying to cling to the past. Embracing change is a vital part of embracing the path to success.
Today my horoscope stated that " You can basically have anything you want right now -- Sounds vaguely like that old warning about being careful what you wish for -- because you might get it? Well, it should. That's exactly the line you're walking. Tread gently, and look both ways before you cross". I had to laugh out loud because I'm often counseling my clients to do the same. When you've spent a significant amount of time pushing your own desires aside and someone gives you a tool to have all those desires realized it's easy to feel like a kid in a candy shop. The only trick is, just like that kid, if you take on too much at once you too may end up with one wicked belly ache.
That is why it is important to have a trusted and experienced life coach to guide you. They can help keep the hurricane of change at bay by helping you focus your energy on one key factor at a time. The beauty is when done correctly it becomes an organic relationship of mutual admiration and respect for the awesome power of change. How do you know when you are doing it right? Well, you will feel like you are carried on a warm summer wind to a specific destination - not catapulted across the sky by a violent storm into the abyss.
Wherever your quest for change takes you remember... look both ways and enjoy the ride!
